NATURE IS A GIFT OF GOD

NATURE
SAVE  OUR  NATURE
Nature is a gift of God. It is so important to us. The fresh smell and pleasant sight brings joy into our hearts. Human beings and other living organism are so lucky to enjoy the fresh fruit of nature. Human beings can make the best use of Nature if they have the knowledge and skill to do so. These days there is a lot of damage being done to environment. Are we to be responsible for this damage? Is a question to be asked to ourselves. The fresh water is being polluted, trees are being cut and living organism are inhaling poisonous gas ! Was nature like this before ? nature is being destroyed by us because of our increasing needs and growing population. If we compare nature in ancient times
NATURAL BEAUTY OF GOA
And now with our present resources there is a vast difference ! As mentioned before nature is very special and important gift given to us. So it is our duty to ensure that the depletion of nature is minimized. Do we want a poisonous surroundings for our future generation ? THE RAINY SEASON

THE RAINY SEASON
India is an agricultural country, and the livelihood of lakhs of people depends on the rains. Infact, much of the people of the country depends on the rains.
Our rainy season generally begins around the first week of June and lasts until the end of September. Some parts on the eastern side of our country get rainfall in winter.
The first showers thrice everyone. The parched earth, the thirsty vegetation and all the living creatures get a fresh life. The dust settles down and the trees and leaves look clean and shining. Fresh green grass all around soothes and pleases the eye. Pools and puddles are formed. Small children splash about in the puddles and find excuses to get wet. They sail paper boats in streams of flowing water. They sing rain songs and enjoy themselves thoroughly.
The farmers plough the land before the rain. They sow the seeds after the first showers. They are busy throughout the rainy season.
But the rains, though essential, can at times also cause a lot of damage. Heavy and continuous rainfall disrupts lives, especially in the cities. Sometimes, rivers get flooded and overflow, causing heavy damage to houses and destroy crops. Diseases also spread during the rainy season taking a heavy toll of lives and cause much suffering.
All the same, life would be impossible in India without rain.

HISTORY OF ST THOMAS GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL_ALDONA

Education based on the Carmelite way of life has been the main thrust of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation. How did the Apostolic Carmel come to Aldona ? It is when Mr. Edward Soares the principal of the St. Thomas High School in Aldona was seriously ill in 1947, he was advised perfect rest. His wife Mrs. Beatrice who was managing the Girls’ section from class 1-VI, decided to take over the Principal-ship of the Boys’ section and give over the girls’ section to some religious congregation.
On September 5th, 1950 the school got recognition from the Bombay University and from the Pune Board in April 1951. The first batch of students was sent up the following year and obtained cent-per-cent  results.
The congregation of the sisters of the Apostolic Carmel is an Indian Congregation which took its roots in the year 1870, in its Foundress Mother Veronica a holy and dedicated woman, who was divinely inspired to reach out to many girls of her day through education and other works of mercy. The motto of the school was kept as OTHERS
Today, the sisters cater to the needs of children in high schools, teachers’ training institutions, degree colleges and technical schools and, all of which are conducted both in Regional languages and in the English mediym. They also run dreches, children’s homes, hostels and boarding houses all over India, in Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Pakistan, Africa and Rome.
The educational institution of the Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel, a Catholic Minority (under Article 30 (1) of the Constitution of India) cater to the educational needs of Catholic children. However, they are also open to children of all classes and creeds.
A villager adds-The people of Aldona and the neighbouring villages are grateful to the Apostolic Carmel Nuns for the establishment of this school in the village. As transport is still a problem, a High School with such academic excellence coupled with discipline is indeed an invaluable asset. The school endeavors to incorporate new ideas and techniques like computer education and the Green Revolution. The sisters involve themselves in the problems of the village and take an active part in all the activities, especially catechesis. Thus the school is an integral part of the Aldona Village.
